Are you considering dental implants? You may wonder how long dental implants last and it’s like teeth – with proper maintenance, they can last a lifetime!
In general, your dental implants should last around 25 years if you follow correct maintenance to ensure they feel and look how they should.

How to take care of your implants
Taking care of your implants is not much different from the smile you have now.
Routine maintenance – To take care of our smile, you should visit your dentist at a minimum every six months, no different to how you should visit your local Sydney dentist. Our dentists will make sure your implant is going well and keep an eye on it so it can last as long as possible.
Proper Oral Hygiene – You need to be careful to maintain proper oral hygiene, so your implant lasts as long as possible. You should continue to brush and floss your teeth and rinse your mouth out with mouthwash to help your implant.
Smoking – Research shows that dental implants failure rate is more than double for smokers compared to non-smokers (Passi, D., Dutta, S., Singh, P., Atri, M., Mohan, S. and Sharma, A.). You should speak to us about smoking when deciding about an implant. Smoking also heightens your risk for gum disease.
